HoTs and DoTs: A Restoration Druid and Shadow Priest

Shadow Lessons from the Professor

Well the first eight or nine Heroic modes in Icecrown Citadel go down pretty easy. I’m sure the Big Crits guild will get Lady Deathwhisper next without too much trouble. But then they’re probably going to hit their heads against the wall also known as: Heroic Professor Putricide.

Dressing Down

I’m probably getting way ahead of myself. But there’s a chance, a small chance, that I might be able to weasel my way into a 10 man Ulduar group bent on earning both their Rusted Protodrakes and the title, Herald of the Titans. I’m so excited!

The Shadow Priest Changes for Cataclysm

I read the Priest Class Changes for Cataclysm (MMO Champion link for when the Blizzard one breaks) right after they were released. I was standing at a target dummy in Stormwind messing with my UI and it was a quiet afternoon when a guildie asked me if I had read the post. I read it. I thought: oh well that’s not great, not too bad either. And went back to making my ForteXorcist Spell Timer match the exact width of Quartz.
And I felt that someone ought to comment on the Shadow Priest changes. And since there are only a couple of Shadow Priest blogs out there… here goes.

A Focused Mind

One of those posts where World of Logs information is turns into something meaningful (hopefully). An analysis of the Priest talents: Meditation (Discipline) and Focused Mind (Shadow) and which is better for raiding Shadow Priests in Icecrown Citadel wearing four pieces of Tier 10 wearing Best in Slot (very little Spirit gear).

Shadow Priests, Spirit and Stat Weightings

Just because Shadow Priests don’t value Spirit very highly it doesn’t mean that other cloth wearers, and Blizzard, feel the same way.

DPS Isn’t as Easy as You Might Think

Lathere is a healer. I am a damage dealer. But we both have alts at level 80. And we’ve both tried to swap roles, with little success. And watching Lath fail in her new role… is actually pretty satisfying. That’s sisterly love for you. I wrote this article so that we can learn from her mistakes.

But I Can’t Use a Sword?

What do the Torch of Holy Fire and Guiding Star have in common? Mp5. Even Shadowpriest.com classify it as a “healing” weapon. Mp5 has no damage-increasing value to a Shadow Priest. We have scads of mana regenerating abilities, passive and active, at our disposal. Trust me, we don’t need Mp5. So guess what the new Shadow Priest best-in-slot weapon is from Icecrown Citadel?

Learning the Wrong Lesson

I think my tank in Heroic Pit of Saron let me die yesterday. I think he was trying to teach me a lesson. Honestly this tank wasn’t completely in the wrong to try and teach me a lesson.

Disclaimer: Cassandri is a Shadow Priest. I will do, to the best of my ability, what Shadow Priests do best in all situations.

By a Round of Applause,
How Do You Feel?

A few readers suggested that I apply for the open WoW.com Priest columnist position. At first I was flattered and then I remembered that WoW.com is a news site. Heavy on the facts, light on the opinion. Kind of the opposite of me.

The DoTs in HoTs & DoTs

A Q&A for DPS (unnamed) was started by Death Goddess. I thought it was a great idea and it was very sensible of Death Goddess to let the temperamental healers and tanks have their moment in the spotlight first. I refuse to subscribe to a blog written by a Death Knight so I had no idea that this was actually started a couple weeks back.

What is the name, class, and spec of your primary dps? Cassandri, Priest, Shadow.
