I hate firefox.

So I originally posted I liked this post, very insightful feedback.

I also originally described in so many words how it used to be pretty difficult to quest "efficiently" at a distant time in the game. Flying mounts changed that, less quest variety changed that, and the cumulative experience of the designers changed that (meaning they became more efficient at designing the quests ...with the unfortunate side-effect of completely obliterating any immersive qualities).

I think it's because I did complete Loremaster - I'm not used to being swamped by yellow question marks when I move around the world. Now I must go and read your post... I've been thinking about that topic a little bit and if I was PVPing I'd Transmog to something believable but lame - like starter PVP gear...

I have a really hard time being a completionist in this game.

I'm not sure what it is, but I really don't have any drive to complete anything 100%. Or even, you know. Achievement %. Not quests, not mounts, not pets... nothing. Because of this I've gotten very, very good at ignoring things like blaring yellow exclamation points.

And that troll quest was frankly torturous. I did just enough to get a little panther to go with my cat form on my main and that was it. I suffer through the Thrall quests on each 85 only because it's currently the quickest way to get a decent cloak.

This is a fascinating post - thanks!

I must say, I find almost exactly the opposite to be the case. I love the non-linear nature of a situation where I have lots of quests at the same time. I love choosing what to do next, plotting my path around a zone to get everything done, and I love being immersed in many stories at once - it makes the game feel more like a world, and less like a mediated exeperience to me.

I'd not really understood why people might prefer the Cataclysm approach of very tight storylines - and your post was really eye-opening there.

Thanks! You're our first feature over at the MMO Melting Pot today - we read hundreds of MMO blogs every day to showcase the best and most interesting pieces, and this post definitely fits!

Unfortunately it's really tempting to not abandon any quests in your quest log because occasionally it can be near impossible to pick them up again (plus you have to remember what the hell you abandoned and where you were up to in the chain!).

I was really surprised by how difficult the Defend the Rebel Camp quest was. I think I went all out at the start - like it was Battle for the Undercity - and soon found I didn't have enough mana to defend myself! I completed the quest but couldn't get out of combat and died :( I did it though.

And I could have used a few heals from Bwemba while I was defending the Rebel Camp. Three minutes is a long time to be out of mana! But otherwise I was glad to have company in STV. Even from an NPC.

I think that was the thing that surprised me the most about the quest line. I was expecting the difficulty to be on par with the tail end of the Twilight's Hammer quests, when it's a hell of a lot more like the initial Vashj'ir events when the naga swarm all over you.

Oh, and you can't be a WoW player and not have a bunch of unfinished quest lines out there! I still have several to finish for Hyjal on one of my main toons before I can even think about doing the Troll or Firelands quest lines. And I don't want to talk about wandering around wherever in the Old World and saying "oooo look... a quest!"
