HoTs and DoTs: A Restoration Druid and Shadow Priest

Goodbye Hots & Dots

The Littlies take on Ironforge

The new Lathere and Cassandri: Pixii and Caesandra.

After nearly a year of blogging for Hots & Dots, Cass and I have made the difficult decision to close this blog. You may have noticed that over the past month we’ve been blogging less and less about Icecrown Citadel, Cassandri and Lathere and have instead been providing posts on dungeon leveling, new character gearing and more casual events.

We’re both a bit burned out on raiding and we’ve discovered that we have really been enjoying all our spare time playing alts – especially our littlies: Pixii and Caesandra (the Warlock and Mage pictured above). We’ve enjoyed this kick ass caster combo so much that we’re taking the plunge and over the next month or two these guys will be our main characters for the remainder of Wrath of the Lich King on onwards for Cataclysm.

However we’re not quite ready to stop blogging so we have decided to launch a new blog centered around our experiences playing a Mage and Warlock. We doubt that we’ll be raiding or blogging about that topic. The blog will be focused more on the leveling experience, pugging and coming to terms with Mage and Warlock spell abilities and talents.

It’s just wouldn’t be right to keep writing for a blog called “HoTs & DoTs” when neither of us will be playing a class that heals – let alone one that HoTs! We’ve already had a few ideas and have started working on a new design and new name for our blog. However we’ve decided it would be for the best if we don’t share this with you: our loyal readers.

We love being part of the blogging community but we both believe that it’s important to build our readership from the ground up. We still remember the thrill of getting our first comment and how overwhelmed and excited we were the very first time we got linked to and had the Hots & Dots name put out there. Those first successes felt fantastic because we started off knowing nothing about blogging whatsoever, had no readers – we hadn’t even told our guild!

I think it’s safe to say that most of our readers are Druids and Priests – and mostly healers – and while comments from you guys would be appreciated it would also feel like we were cheating a little bit. That you might be reading because it’s Lathere and Cassandri and not because you’re interested in Warlock and Mage topics at all. We want our new blog to stand on its own. Out of respect to the Mage and Warlock communities looking for good quality blogs and information we’re determine to start anew, rebuilding our credibility and reputation.

So again, on behalf of Cass and myself thank you all for reading us over the last year. It’s been a pleasure and we hope you all discover us again on our new adventure! And if you don’t, remember us as a Restoration Druid and Shadow Priest duo: Lathere and Cassandri.

This makes me so sad! I was so excited earlier today when I realized that I could run into one (or both!) of you in a random heroic or battleground somewhere. (My paladin is on Ner’Zhul-A.)

Best of luck in your new adventure, and I hope I stumble upon your new digs… if only to keep seeing some of the excellent wit and writing that keeps me coming back to H&D for more! *big hugs*

    (Also GNOMES ++++♥ ♥ ♥)

I guess it’s time for a new blog?? I hope I find it – regardless of what it’s called or how often and when it publishes I am sure it will be awesome. As for your latest stuff, I love your well-thought out guides on early instances; they have helped me catch everything and not get tricked by some of the more confusing paths. ;)

@ultra: I was totally falling for it until I pressed tab to move to the submit button and was instead sent up to the search box up top. I noticed your comment as I was scrolling back down. And in this comment, I probably just ruined it for even more people. Sorry, Lathere & Cassandri!

In my defense, it had only been April for about half an hour when I read this. I’ll leave my comment below just for funsies:

“It’ll be a shame to see this site go. Thanks much for your contributions, and for your assistance with my website via your links (even if you didn’t get the name exactly right!)”

Let me be the first to congratulate you on an excellent choice of race! With the Gnomeregan event coming up, there’s never been a better time to try Gnome!

I’ve seen that Gnomergeddon’s rerolling Troll, so hopefully you’ll be able to fill the Gnome-shaped void that he leaves behind.

Look forward to reading your new stuff soon!

  17. But I just started reading! And gnomes look funny! Especially mages. The only GOOD GNOME is a PALADIN GNOME.

Thank you for all the kind comments everyone. It almost makes me feel guilty for encouraging Lathere to post this April Fools Day post.

Lath go full time DPS? Lathere with her Resto/Resto spec and two Restoration Druids? I don’t think so…

And the day after I wrote a post with the caption “I have to be Shadow so my future group doesn’t miss out”? Really, what were you thinking?!

Anyway, I hope you had a bit of a laugh and didn’t get too annoyed that we mislead you. Most of the post is absolutely the truth – we love our readers and love each comment we receive. We have been blogging about more casual stuff and bitching about raiding of late but I don’t think Hots and Dots will stay that way.

I’m in the middle of writing a very maths oriented Shadow Priest blog for next week for Tier 10 wearing raiders. So stick around!

(Actually maybe I should take the word “maths” out of that otherwise you’ll be guaranteed to never return!)

ps. My best friend convinced her year 12 class that students would not be allowed to pick their date for the Formal/Prom and that the staff were going to match up couples instead. She then made them write down 3 characteristics of what they look for in a partner of the opposite sex… gathered them… and started a new curriculum topic: gender stereotypes.

    I was mightily impressed.
