I use long auctions because other people seem to use short auctions. They make it short, they expire, and then I have a monopoly, without needing to be on when it happens. The deposits are trivial anyway. It saves time relisting and ensures that my glyphs are more likely to be up during a high time.

I really don't think there's much point in listing for more than 12 hours - I'm always undercut by a few people within a few hours. I think it's important to figure out when it's convenient for you to cancel and relist and also when none of your competition is listing.

For example, I rarely bother relisting between 10am-2pm ST. On my server this is a hotly contested glyph selling time and maybe 3 of the 6 who list pretty much everything, quite aggressively, log in and play the AH at that time. And I don't believe there are that many customers buying then either!

Unfortunately I can't ensure that my auctions remain the cheapest on AH during peak play times during the week - because I'm raiding. However, I like to relist close to midnight just before I go to bed and capture a lot of sales overnight.

I am using a similar approach. In order to keep the game interesting for myself, I have set myself a steep target gold goal for Cataclysm, 100k. I am not sure I'll be able to hit, but since I set it I went from 13k to 20k gold in 1.5 weeks.

I researched the top 3 glyphs for every spec and am making those glyphs, 1 each. When one of them sells, I make a new one. I will only not list glyphs when they are under the material costs. I am really bemused that on my realm people are listing the Incinerate glyph for 33 silver.

From old habit, I am listing for 24 hours, but I think I might switch to a shorter list time. I make from 200 to 1k gold a day. How long do you list your glyphs?

I also started shuffling saronite ore, and am absolutely astounded how many people are buying cut rare gems.
