Hi Elizabeth, this guide is outdated now and Shadow Priest itemisation just changed a fair bit with the last patch. General rule of thumb: Spellpower and Haste are equally good as eachother, Crit isn’t quite as good as those other two and any Tier Bonus is pretty sweet!

thank you so much for this list. i realize it’s a bit outdated with 3.3 being out, but seeing as how most gear guides out there are for spriests that are serious raiders, this particular list is great for my spriest alt who i just want to run randoms and a raid or two a month on. thanks!

I’ve added in Legwraps of the Master Conjurer (legs) to my post which is a superior Crit option to Leggings of the Haggard Apprentice. Not as good as the Tier 9 ones, but if you really want a Crit option it’s very easy to achieve.

Signet of Purity (finger), also not on Loot Rank, would have scored 93.95, and I’d recommend crafting a Titanium Spellshock Ring instead and putting in a nice pure spellpower gem if you’re looking for a Crit ring. The Emblem of Triumph ring I listed is a really nice option.

Abyssal Rune (trinket with passive haste and spell power proc) is an unknown… it looks like a pretty darn nice trinket but might have an internal cooldown which stops it from proccing often. A very nice entry level trinket (paired with Sundial of the Exile) for fresh Shadow Priests. I might add this to the list.

Mariel’s Sorrow (1 hand Mace) is nice, but not as nice as Spectral Kris for Shadow Priests which drops from the same instance: Trial of the Champion 5 man heroic.

Thanks Angobar – didn’t realise I’d completely missed the Hands/Gloves section!

Most of the items you mentioned didn’t quite make the list, in my eyes are inferior to other items I listed, although if you click on the Loot Rank link you can see how they match up but increasing the Max Number of items.

Evoker’s Charm (neck) isn’t as good as the three listed, but if you want a no-hit haste option I would wear Cosmic Lights over it.

Remember the Black Knight loot is only ilvl 200 and, no matter how favourable to Shadow Priests some of the stats may be, just can’t compare to raid items. For example:

Mantle of Inconsolable Fear (shoulder) doesn’t register on Loot Rank for some reason but it would score 140.85, coming in long after the top 10, so many better alternatives out there.

Embrace of Madness (chest) also is a worse alternative to your Tier 8 or Tier 9 10 man chest, and didn’t make the list.

Bindings of the Wicked (wrists) doesn’t register on Loot Rank either and would score 106.65 but Bindings of the Expansive Mind is a better Crit/Hit option.

Great list of gear for a Shadowpriest to aim for. The gear listed is easily available from badges, Trial of the Champion 5 norm and 5 heroic, and Trial of the Crusader 10N….

I found some other items that aren’t on your list that you might want to think about (but I realise they may not be on your list because of your stat preferences):

Abyssal Rune (not sure about whether this is good or not actually)

As there are no gloves in your list, how about:
Looming shadow wraps
Touch of the Occult
