Good to hear that some first-character Warriors get a second lease on life. And some are forced to wear costume at level 70 and take up life as a banker (*cough* Lathere’s warrior bank alt).

Our guild has a really strong tanking team that don’t look to be going anywhere. Since dual specs came out it’s usually the druid and DK tanks who DPS more often than tank because their DPS is much better. To be fair I also think of the four the druid and DK enjoy DPSing the most. We struggle to recruit pure ranged DPS these days – warlocks, hunters and mages – but we’ve got several on trial at the moment. I just hope they keep turning up.

I am a warrior, my first character and born again main. Tanking now days is fun for me since I got over my ‘warriors can’t tank 3+ adds’ complex, however I am relegated to dps as our DK and Pali do exceedingly well in Ulduar. However I never really got to prove myself.

Good to see an oceanic blogger, plus is you guild recruiting?

Pah.. Tank shortage.. No such thing. All the totally overgeared tanks are busy in Ulduar, they finished paying their dues in 5 mans long before they hit Naxx up. Hence there will always be a ‘tank shortage’ when 5 man PUGs demand absolutely nothing less than a top raid tank for their little PUG. I guess Blizzard’s changes to Emblems will at least get some raid tanks doing some 5s for a bit until they are finished gearing with Triumph emblems, but I expect another ‘tank shortage’ in a few months. Even then, most geared tanks will probably remain in guild runs so maybe it won’t make that much of a difference.

As for tank love, Blizz has done a reasonable job of making 4 viable tanking classes/specs. Each will have its ups and downs depending on the patch level, but that’s the same for all the classes. I chose warrior over my pally because I prefer the play style. My guildies choose me to tank, not my class.

I used to find this an issue in BC, it was so hard to find a tank for anything. After playing a healer for so long now though I have my stable of tanks and I pretty much only group up if one of them asks…. It makes such a difference healing a dungeon with a tank you don’t know, God forbid if they are terrible at it too!

This may be a server thing though…. Barthilas is a busy server and it was the 3rd Oceanic server available for players. I think the general population has been playing for a while and we’re a pretty active bunch

As a player who is only just starting to group up regularly I can tell you, on my server, you type in “LFM DPS or Heals” and you’ll get 15 whispers in a few seconds, you type in “LFM Tank” and the chirping crickets are deafening…it’s gotten to a point our resto drood, who has been resto since lvl 1 and never re-specced in his entire 80 levels respecced to feral two days ago so that we don’t need to wait 2 hours for a tank every time we need a group.

Anyway, I’m with you on this, props to the Prot Spec warriors, healing them is a pleasure and DPSing for them is leisurely…every other class who think they can tank need to realise they’re just pale imitations of the true tanks…

I’ve always had a preference for healing Prot Pallys. Generally damage to a paladin is fairly steady which suits HoT healing perfectly. Both druids and warriors can experience large spike damage which is pretty freaky for a tree seeing we don’t have any big fast heals to counter them!

Also to show my complete healing noobiness… Caco tanks a fire elemental in that room!!!???? I’ve never realised I’m too busy spamming the heals on him
